Rainbow laces 2021 Statement
May 2016 Newsletter
We didn’t win the FA Cup…………in hindsight, it would just need polishing and it would show up the dust……so we didn’t need it anyway.
Fresh from that low in the middle of a day that was for the most part a high we thought we’d share a brief update of latest news on the group and some events you might want to attend over the summer months. And all this before the Premier league starts again…......4th season in a row for us!! :0)
A little more about Proud and Palace
Since the group started in November 2014, the group has been very much an online presence, I am now really pleased to be joined in the running of the group by the talented and wonderful Emma and Deano.
We have many plans for the group in the 2016/2017 season, and we will spend the summer getting our metaphorical ducks in a row. But please do get in touch if you want to help with events, blogs etc. or have suggestions for things we could do?!
Most importantly we are all Palace fans, fanatical as any fanatic, with split opinions on the issues as varied as the sash v the yellow kit, Eric Ninja Young or Scott Dann, just like you, we’ve watched an awful lot of mediocre football as a result of our love of CPFC. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We want to focus on the fact that we are Palace fans first and LGBT second. Our aim is to show football fans that the LGBT community has a presence and a voice in football, and we are just like any other fans ( well probably slightly better dressed, more attractive and with devastating wit!).
So we will mostly talk about palace, but in doing so, we will be open about who we are. We will challenge discrimination within football and in particular at CPFC matches but we want to keep the message one of being united by the red and blue, and being part of the CPFC family.
Official backing
We recently met with CPFC and are thrilled to say that they have pledged to support the group in a variety of ways. We have shared visions for the group to ensure that CPFC are seen as club that all LGBT people can support, and importantly feel comfortable and welcome at Selhurst Park.
Raising the Flag
Thanks to funding from the Football supporters federation we now have a lovely Proud and Palace flag, and we know how to use it!
Below is a montage of the flag in ‘action’ including one with Anwar from the FSF at the offices where Emma works (rather swanky I might add) as we thanked him for the flag.

Eddie Izzard
You may have seen that Proud and Palace issued a statement regarding the abuse of Eddie at the FA Cup Final, full statement here http://proudandpalace.weebly.com/news
And finally it’s also important to remember that Eddie Izzard recently took a lap of honour in heels at our home game with Norwich and received a standing ovation, things are changing, slowly, but it’s happening.
